GEUS, a public power utility serving more than 30,000 customers in Greenville, TX, has been awarded the 2022 Certificate of Excellence in Reliability from the American Public Power Association. The award recognizes GEUS's exceptional electric reliability in 2022, as compared to national reliability data collected by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) from 2017 to 2021.
The American Public Power Association assessed GEUS's reliability data compiled through the eReliability Tracker, which showed that GEUS is in the top quartile (25%) of utilities for System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) including or excluding IEEE MEDs, based on the EIA data.
Alicia Hooks, General Manager of GEUS, expressed her gratitude and pride in receiving this award, stating, "Being recognized for having some of the highest reliability numbers in the nation makes me very proud. This doesn’t happen by accident and requires continual efforts by a great group of dedicated GEUS employees. We are honored to receive this award and will continue to work hard to provide the reliable electric service our customers deserve."
The Certificate of Excellence in Reliability is awarded annually by the American Public Power Association to public power utilities that have demonstrated exceptional electric reliability. Utilities must meet strict criteria, including having a SAIDI below the national average, to qualify for the award.
