Greenville Election Results: Spencer Wins City Council Place 3 and Taylor Wins GISD District 2

In the May 6, 2023 election for Greenville City Council Place 3, former Greenville Police officer Philip R. Spencer won the seat with 72.27% of the vote.  Kristen Ciara Washington, the incumbent, received 27.73% of the votes. Washington had previously been elected to the City Council on November 3, 2020.

Spencer posted the following statement on his facebook account:

My family and I are truely humbled by all of the support and well wishes during this campaign! I am excited to announce, pending a canvas of the votes, I will be your next City Councilman for place 3!

Thank you Kristen Ciara Washington for your service to Greenville, your time and contributions to the community were extrodinary and I wish you the best of luck in your next adventure. I know you will do great things!!

To the Citizens of Greenville, Thank you for your belief and trust in me. I promise to work hard for you, listen to you and act with integrity!

In the Greenville ISD Trustree, District 2, race, Anji Taylor received 65.25% of the votes while the incumbent, Trena Stafford, received 34.75%.
