According to the Rains County Sheriff's Office, a new local phone scam has emerged in Rains County. The scam involves someone calling local businesses attempting to sell advertisements for National Day Out.
The caller offers to put the name of the business on the back of T-shirts for a few hundred dollars.
The scammers also say that they work for the Emory Police Department. This is not correct and it is not being promoted by any agency in Rains County.
The Sheriff's Office emphasizes that these callers are not connected to local law enforcement and first responders.
